As Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is getting ready for his post-resurrection trip to Europe in Spider-Man: Far From Home, one element of the film that might stand out to fans is the presence of Peter's spiffy new stealth suit, which was given to him by none other than Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson).

While the suit's origins and purpose have been a mystery until now, director Jon Watts shed some light on the suit and its origin in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly.

But why exactly does the Friendly Neighborhood Wallcrawler have it, and what purpose does it serve? An interview with the film's director Jon Watts and Holland sheds some light on that. They revealed that Fury gives the suit to Peter to better protect his secret identity while he's in Europe helping Fury deal with the film's villains, the Elementals.

"It kind of looks like Black Widow-maybe it was one of her suits and they just tailored it," Watts joked.

Given how Spidey's more colorful costume would definitely draw more attention, Fury may have made the right call giving Peter a special suit while he's in another country. However, Peter may need more than just a fancy new costume while he's working with Fury and Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio to stop the Elementals.

Opening July 2, director Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Zendaya, Cobie Smulders, Jon Favreau, JB Smoove, Jacob Batalon and Martin Starr, with Marisa Tomei and Jake Gyllenhaal.
