My Hero Academia's Story So Far

My Hero Academia Season 4 began with a new villain named Overhaul, who is determined to return the world to a time before Quirks existed. Taken in by the former boss of Shie Hassaikai, Overhaul also wants to return the yakuza back into a position of power as a way to return his debt. Believing that Quirks and heroes are plagues to society, he uses a young girl named Eri to create bullets made out of her blood and cells to destroy Quirks. Midoriya and Mirio, one of the Big Three heroes, encounter the two on a patrol on Midoriya's first official day working at Sir Nighteye's agency and were forced to let Eri go--a decision that haunted them.

With the help of the other heroes, including Kirishima, Uraraka and Asui, Midoriya manages to defeat Overhaul and save Eri, but not without some casualties as well as a fallen hero. However, Overhaul's hold over Eri was much more prevalent than anticipated: all of the experiments that were done on her caused her significant psychological trauma, rendering her unable to smile or know what it means to be happy. She gets invited to a school festival, that almost gets disrupted by a villain pair named Gentle Criminal and La Brava, but after seeing Class 1-A's performance, she finally smiles.

What MHA Fans Can Expect

my hero academia midoriya dream

The end of Season 4 saw Endeavor and Hawks successfully fighting off a Nomu who only could not only withstand Endeavor's powerful strikes but also think and talk. While it looks like the League of Villains is laying low for now, they do have the remaining Quirk-Destroying bullets in their hands after overpowering Overhaul. It could deal a devastating blow to society if the League were to use them.

Season 5 will focus more on U.A. and the students, shining more of a spotlight on Class 1-B. The two classes will be merged together for a joint training class where they'll be divided into small teams to fight against each other. Although it may seem as though Class 1-A will have the upper hand, Class 1-B has been improving as well, despite not having seen as many battles as 1-A has. At the end of Season 4, Midoriya sees all of the previous users of One for All, as well as a glimpse of the first user with his brother All for One, in his dream. He wakes up, destroying his room in the process, but has no idea what the dream means. Once he does, he might be able to understand and control his Quirk better.

Meanwhile, the last time we saw Gran Torino, he and the police force were chasing after Kurogiri but met a bigger threat in the form of an enormous Villain named Gigantomachia, one of All for One's most faithful servants. Although they captured Kurogiri, Gigantomachia is still on the loose. Seeing as how Kurogiri sought out Gigantomachia to help Shigaraki, we may see him meeting Shigaraki and the rest of the League in the new season.

My Hero Academia Season 5 Trailer

My Hero Academia released the first trailer for Season 5 in October 2020 and another one in December. On February 27, 2021, a third trailer was released, showing a few more of the heroes from Class 1-B as well as some shots of the two classes in action. The trailer also revealed that the opening theme "No. 1" will be sung by DISH, a dancing rock band. the peggies, an all-female rock band, will be singing the ending theme called "Ashiato" which translates to Footprints.

In the trailers, a familiar face makes his reappearance: Shinso, the General Studies student whose powerful Brainwashing Quirk would allow him to control someone for a period of time as long as they answered his question. In Season 2, Shinso resented how some Quirks were deemed more acceptable and his Quirk was more suited to villains. Despite this, he was praised for how useful his Quirk was after he lost to Midoriya in the sports festival and vowed to be a better hero than everyone in the hero course. But now, Shinso has a goal: to be accepted into the hero class and this joint training is his opportunity to prove his worth.
