The evidence room fight scene in Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) showed Harley using a variety of different objects to fight off her attackers. Recently, director Cathy Yan revealed that the scene also almost saw Quinn wielding an extremely NSFW weapon.

"At one point [screenwriter] Christina Hodson wanted a giant double-ended dildo that [Harley] had to fend off," Yan shared with Empire. She had other ideas about fun weapons. "I wanted her to have a big fluffy bear stuffed with drugs that she used as a pillow to fight with," Yan stated, "We had to show some sort of restraint. It's a cheeky movie – unapologetically so."

Currently available on home video, Birds of Prey released much earlier than expected due to the coronavirus outbreak. The film initially released in the United States on February 7, 2020 and grossed just $33.3 million, domestically. Despite Birds of Prey's disappointing opening weekend, the film has done fairly well in reviews, currently sitting at a 78% rating among both critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

As of yet, there have not been any official announcements regarding plans for a sequel. Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn will return to screens, however, in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad. Cathy Yan has expressed interest in possibly directing a film starring Harley and Poison Ivy.

Directed by Cathy Yan and written by Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) stars Margot Robbie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Rosie Perez, Chris Messina, Ella Jay Basco and Ewan McGregor. The film is out on digital HD now.
