Elizabeth Olsen warns fans that it's about to get much worse for Scarlet Witch when she returns next year in Marvel's Avengers 4.

Although Wanda Maximoff was one of Avengers: Infinity War's many casualties, Olsen will reprise the role for the 2019 sequel. But while the plot of Avengers 4 remains a closely guarded secret, Olsen promised even darker times ahead for her character.

Olsen appeared over the weekend at ACE Comic Con in Chicago alongside Tom Hiddleston, who told her, “The thing you have to do at the end of Infinity War is a kind of sacrifice and arguably Loki makes a similar one." She cryptically responded, “It’s only going to get worse."

Olsen of course didn't elaborate, but the suggestion is that audiences should prepare for the worst.

In Infinity War, Wanda used her powers to pull the Mind Stone from Vision's head, killing her lover in an effort to prevent Thanos from collecting the final Infinity Stone. However, the Mad Titan then used the Time Stone to do it himself and gather the stones to wipe out half the universe.

As well as bringing back the fallen heroes, the likes of Iron Man, Captain America and Thor also have to contend with the ongoing threat of Thanos and restore some sort of normality to the universe. If the time travel rumors turn out to be true, Scarlet Witch could be forced to relive Vision's demise, or the death of her brother Quicksilver from the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The untitled sequel to Avengers: Infinity War will release on May 3, 2019. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Marvel’s Avengers 4 stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Benedict Wong, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland, and Anthony Mackie.
