The Assassin's Creed franchise tends to incorporate many historical figures into its stories. The upcoming installment, Valhalla, will not stray from that tradition.

The Ubisoft German store posted details about the Valhalla season pass, including a story mission titled "The Legend of Beowulf." The Beowulf myth has its roots in Scandinavian legend, so it's not surprising that Valhalla will draw from that myth. Given the subtitle, "Discover the cruel truth behind the legend," it also stands to reason that Ubisoft has found a way to upend the well-known legend.

The other content in the season pass includes another bonus mission titled "The Way of the Berserker," which will be available to customers who pre-order the game. The season pass will also "expand your experience with new content, new lands and new gear," according to the website.

This is not the first time the franchise has touched on mythology. Both Assassin's Creed: Origins and Oddessy incorporated Egyptian and Greek mythology, respectively. Valhalla follows the exploits of a Viking raider as he becomes entangled in the Assassin/Templar War.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla arrives on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Google Stadia Holiday 2020.
