Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to bring exciting updates to those enjoying their island getaway. The previous event, Bunny Day, allowed players to collect colorful eggs and craft vibrant furniture and costumes. The newest event, Nature Day, kicks off April 23 and runs until May 4.

Similar to the previous event, Nature Day comes to players in the form of a downloadable update. Once downloaded and installed, there will be several activities that the player can take part in. The biggest highlight of the event are extra Nook Miles+ activities. These activities are centered around completing eco-friendly tasks around your island, such as planting trees, flowers and shrubs, picking weeds and watering flowers. These tasks also offer a large amount of Miles a rewards.

Once the first of these Nook Miles+ goals is completed, players should be sure to speak to Tom Nook at Resident Services. He will reward the player with a brand new recipe: hedges. Hedges resemble the shrubs introduced within the Nature Day event, but act like fences that can be placed throughout the island.

Also starting on April 23, Leif will be visiting players’ islands near Resident Services. A returning favorite from Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Leif brings a lot of helpful tips and assistance to help players get the most out of Nature Day. He offers multiple options for shrubs and flowers to buy, which can differ from those already available to purchase from Nook’s Cranny. Additionally, Leif will buy weeds at double the price players would get from Timmy and Tommy. Players will reap increased rewards for keeping their island nice and tidy, and earn some additional Bells to purchase extra plants and decorate their island.

This event has a lot to offer in terms of turning one’s island into a more luscious landscape. While introducing shrubs and hedges, players can also delve into breeding flowers, creating beautiful hybrid colors to spread across their islands. This is further rewarded not just with the accompanying Nook Miles+ goals for Nature Day, but with the added benefit of increasing the rating of the overall island. Players can always check in with Isabelle at Resident Services to see how their island rates in evaluations, seeing what else can help them get that perfect five-star rating.

Overall, the Nature Day event has plenty to offer to New Horizons players. Daily Nook Miles+ tasks provide more simple tasks to keep players on track, while Leif offers plenty of helpful items to accomplish these goals. With hedges being the only major prize to receive, players also won’t feel rushed or bombarded to complete task after task, but can instead enjoy the experience of Nature Day at their own pace.
